What To Expect

What to expect before, during and after your treatment in our Kelowna Massage Therapy Clinic.

Your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) will take you into the treatment room and discuss your health history intake form, provide a basic intake interview and talk with you about your massage preferences (how you like pressure for massage and areas to be worked on). During this time you will also discuss your assessment and treatment plan with your RMT.

Your RMT will then leave the room and close the door to allow you to undress to your comfort level. It is entirely up to you how much clothing you chose to remove, it is your comfort and ability to relax that is the top priority. You will then get on the massage table as discussed with your RMT prior to her leaving and cover yourself with the linens provided and wait for your therapist to knock on the door, when you give the verbal OK, she will re-enter the room, ensure you are comfortable and begin treatment.

You will remain under the fresh linens on the heated, padded massage table with relaxing background music throughout the treatment. Your RMT is thoroughly trained to ensure the sheet on the massage table is securely draped over you to protect your privacy. Only the body part being worked on will be uncovered.

Communication is key during massage to ensure your comfort level and effective treatment as such, your RMT will ask you periodically whether the pressure is adequate. It is your right and your RMTs goal for you to feel comfortable to communicate about the pressure being applied at any time, about draping or any pain you might be feeling throughout the massage. You can expect complete quiet from your therapist or relaxing conversation if you prefer.

When the massage is complete, your RMT will let you know, pour you some water, ask if you have any questions and then will leave the room, giving you time to take some relaxing deep breaths, get up off of the massage table and redress. When you are ready, open the door, this will let your RMT know that you are ready for them to return.

Your RMT will then provide you with self-care advice and if needed, suggest a follow up treatment plan.

At this point feel free to ask your therapist any questions you may have, your RMT will conclude the entire appointment by escorting you to the reception area.
