Trigger Point Massage

What is a trigger point? A trigger point is defined as “a hyper-irritable spot in skeletal muscle that is associated with a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band. This spot is painful upon compression and can give rise to characteristic referred pain, referred tenderness, motor dysfunction, and autonomic phenomena.”

Trigger point release therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated manual pressure and release. massage therapist will manually re-educate the muscles into pain-free motions. After one or often several treatments by an RMT, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and circulation, flexibility and coordination are improved.
